DJ Temple founded Temple Music Academy with a simple goal: to create the kind of music school he wished he had when he was learning. Nearly two decades later, that vision has grown into a thriving community of students, instructors, performers, and music lovers.
With over 18 years of teaching experience, DJ has worked with students of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners learning their first notes to advanced musicians pursuing ambitious musical goals. His lessons combine practical musicianship with a strong understanding of theory, helping students build the skills and confidence needed to become independent musicians.
DJ studied at the Central Valley Academy of Music, has audited coursework from Berklee College of Music, and continues to pursue his own musical development through the Royal Conservatory of Music program. He has also studied with internationally recognized guitarists Chris Broderick, Jeff Loomis, and Wes Hauch, bringing a wide range of musical perspectives and techniques into his teaching.
As a guitarist, bassist, composer, and educator, DJ believes that every student learns differently. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, he works to understand each student's interests and goals, creating lessons that are both engaging and challenging.
Outside of the academy, DJ remains an active performer and recording artist as guitarist for the Canadian metal band Without Mercy. His experience in songwriting, recording, live performance, and the music industry allows him to provide students with real-world insight that extends far beyond the lesson room.
Whether a student dreams of performing on stage, writing original music, completing music examinations, or simply enjoying music as a lifelong hobby, DJ is passionate about helping them discover what they are capable of achieving through music.

As Programs Director, Janelle oversees much of the academy's branding, messaging, and organizational systems. She coordinates volunteers, helps plan recitals and special events, and works closely with the team to ensure students and families have a positive experience both inside and outside the lesson room.
Known for her attention to detail and ability to keep multiple projects moving at once, Janelle plays an important role in helping Temple Music Academy continue to grow while maintaining the welcoming community atmosphere that families have come to expect.
Janelle is also married to Academy founder DJ Temple... but we don’t hold that against her.
With more than a decade of teaching experience, Matt has helped students of all ages and skill levels develop confidence behind the drum kit. Whether you're picking up sticks for the first time or looking to refine advanced techniques, he creates lessons that are engaging, practical, and tailored to each student's goals.
Known for his down-to-earth personality and friendly approach, Matt has a natural ability to make students feel comfortable while challenging them to grow. His lessons focus on developing solid fundamentals, strong timing, and the skills needed to become a versatile and capable drummer.
Outside of the academy, Matt is an active performing musician and drummer for the metal band Without Mercy alongside Academy founder DJ Temple. His real-world performance experience allows him to bring practical insights into lessons while helping students understand how their skills apply both in the practice room and on the stage.

Lukas brings a thoughtful and balanced approach to piano education, helping students develop both practical playing skills and strong musical foundations. Trained at Trinity Western University and having completed RCM Level 9, he combines formal musical training with a teaching style that is approachable, encouraging, and effective.
With five years of teaching experience, Lukas works with students of all ages and skill levels. His lessons focus on building real musical ability through a combination of technique, note reading, theory, and repertoire, ensuring students not only learn songs they enjoy but also develop the skills needed to continue growing as musicians.
Known for his patient and structured approach, Lukas believes that strong fundamentals create confident musicians. He helps students build the skills they need to play independently while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable.
Outside of teaching, Lukas enjoys creative projects and even developed his own video game, reflecting the same problem-solving mindset and attention to detail that he brings to his lessons. Whether a student is learning their first notes or tackling more advanced material, Lukas is committed to helping them become capable, well-rounded musicians.
Known simply as "Anatoli" around the academy (much like Cher or Prince), he brings more than 35 years of professional musical experience to every lesson.
Originally from the former Soviet Union, Anatoli studied at the Cultural State Institute of Yakutsk, earning a diploma in conducting with additional studies in composition, arranging, and guitar. Throughout his career, he has performed with professional orchestras and touring groups, released internationally recognized recordings, composed and arranged music, and worked as both a performer and educator.
Since moving to Canada, Anatoli has shared his music across Canada and the United States through festivals, theatre productions, radio appearances, and studio work. His diverse musical background includes jazz, folk, pop, gypsy music, and many other styles, giving him the ability to connect with students pursuing a wide variety of musical interests.
While guitar is his primary instrument, Anatoli also teaches bass, ukulele, drums, and mandolin. His lessons are known for being fun, interactive, and engaging, helping students build confidence while developing strong musical foundations.

Cassondra brings a fun, energetic, and practical approach to every lesson. With three years of teaching experience and a strong background in the local worship and performance community, she enjoys helping students build confidence while developing healthy vocal technique.
An active participant in community-based performances, Cassondra understands the importance of connecting music with real-world experience. Her lessons focus on creating an encouraging environment where students can explore their voice, improve their skills, and most importantly, enjoy the learning process.
Cassondra works with students of all ages and experience levels, though many of her students are teens and young adults looking to grow their confidence as singers. Her positive attitude and supportive teaching style help students feel comfortable taking risks, trying new things, and discovering what their voice is capable of.
